Last weekend St. ERHARD participated in “The Leading Beers” festival, one of the biggest beer culture festivals in Germany. At “The Leading Beers” the best breweries and their beers come together with music, arts and culinary specialties. Hundreds of visitors from all over the world could try a vast number of beer styles from 30 different breweries. Next to the tasting of the different beers, the visitors could also try matching styles of cheese or chocolate to their respective beer and listen to music from different bands. There was also a big panel discussion regarding the German “Reinheitsgebot” with Oliver Wesseloh, Sebastian Priller, Georg VI. Schneider, Dr. Werner Gloßner, Norbert Krines, Dr. Lothar Ebbertz and Justin Leone. Furthermore different proven experts of the beer business gave lectures, like our founder Christian Klemenz on “Beer in India – A New Market Delevops”.

We are very glad that we could meet a lot of interesting people, try good beer, present our product and just enjoy the two days at the Amberger Congress Centrum.

St. ERHARD is “True Beer Excellence”, but “The Leading Beers” is “True Beer Culture Excellence”!

Finally we want to say “Thank you” to the organizational team of the University of Applied Science Amberg-Weiden for their great work. We look forward to “The Leading Beers” 2014!

P.S.: Check out the pictures of “The Leading Beers” on our Facebook page!

Our business angel Günter Wiskot from Karlsruhe was one of the two finalists for the “Goldene Nase” prize awarded by the business angel network Germany (BAND). Congratulations for that!

After he studied computer science and engineering management at the well-known KIT, Günter Wiskot founded different IT-companies. In 2003 he changed his role in these companies from the operative management to the Board of Directors and started his activities as a business angel.

A business angel is a private investor who finances start-ups and supports them with know-how and business contacts at the same time. So beside his financial support Günter Wiskot supports St. ERHARD with his knowledge about the Indian market, his entrepreneurial talent and strategic business thinking. He also played a significant role in finding another business angel for our second round of financing. Due to these facts we recommended Günter Wiskot for the prize “Goldene Nase”. Since 2001 the BAND bestows the “Goldene Nase” to very successful business angels with a great entrepreneurial sense every year. Through investing in great start-ups with innovative ideas and an already successful solid business and a promising future the awarded business angels show their special business expertise.

IGZ Bamberg

IGZ Bamberg

Great businesses are developed from great workplaces. So is the case with St. ERHARD. Our office is located in Innovations- und Gründungszentrum (IGZ) Bamberg which translates to Centre for Innovation and Entrepreneurship. Today I will talk about our office premises and what is it that makes it very special and motivating, to wake up in the morning and wanting to go there.

As the name says, the whole premises are just built for young start-up businesses which are still growing. It’s owned and run by the municipality of Bamberg which wants to promote young businesses locally. The administration here is trying best to develop and flourish new start-ups and is motivating young people to generate new ideas and turn them into a profitable product/service offering. The business centre is located in the vicinity of one of the University of Bamberg’s campuses and is equipped with well built offices and conference rooms.

There is something else which makes this place more interesting and very challenging to be in. Just to promote entrepreneurship, IGZ only allows businesses to stay there for a certain period of time. After that the office space is provided to a new venture. This makes sure that the venture makes the most of the starting phase and as soon as it gets big enough then it’s time to give the chance to a new business idea to grow in IGZ. Nonetheless, the rent is subsidized for all the businesses, in compared to offices in other business centers, to make sure that rent doesn’t become a burden on the businesses in the initial phase.

IGZ currently has about 25 different businesses running under one roof. There are networking events where businesses come together and discuss about what they are doing do impact the society and present their product/service offering in front of everyone. One event was recently organized on 17th of May with St. ERHARD being the main sponsor. With all the companies presenting their business ideas, they also enjoyed and appreciated how St. ERHARD is growing and spreading German beer culture abroad starting from Asia to all the other parts of the globe.

We are proud to be a part of this versatile business community and to run our operations out of this dynamic initiative.

India - Land of Opportunities

India – Land of Opportunities

I remember the day when I first met Christian, Founder & CEO of St. ERHARD, at Munich Venture Summit 2012 where he shared his vision of bringing St. ERHARD to India and his experience studying at IIM Ahmedabad from where the idea of St. ERHARD originated. I was astonished and felt really proud to hear the same.

India has always been a land of opportunities. Being a country with over one billion people, India has been successful in spreading the culture, values and traditions across borders. Also among the people who haven’t even been to India at all. I feel so proud of myself to represent my country out here in Germany and also in front of different people from all over the globe.

India represents entrepreneurial spirit, possibilities, businesses ideas and passion. St. ERHARD is surely a blend of all these aspects. India has been known for creating incredible brands and concepts. From past few decades this country has evolved and so has the whole corporate landscape.

Organizations like TiE, NEN, FICCI, CII and many other entrepreneurial incubators have proved their success now and then in molding people and ideas into success businesses. Also educational institutes like Indian Institute of Management’s and Indian School of Business, Hyderabad and other esteemed institutions have been places where great ideas have generated and changed the way we see this world now.

St. ERHARD being a very young, promising & a dynamic start-up, carries a niche with itself. Beer has been a synonym for Germany and its culture. This is what we plan to portray. The idea in the end is to see St. ERHARD become a synonym for premium quality German beer coming all the way from the heart of Germany.
